I chose Buscemi because he possesses that “fascinatingly ugly” characteristic that they are so fond of reiterating about his appearance throughout the novel. Obv. he’d have to beef up a good deal first.

And Batman was a great film, I have to say.

And as for the Joker…there are rumors (I have nothing concrete, but I have a friend I trust a great deal who works at the movie theater that told me this) that they are in talks with a replacement actor for the Joker. Nolan mentioned recently that the Joker is a large part of Batman and is too influential to write completely out of the story.

And who are they in talks with? Mr. Daniel Day Lewis.

Buscemi?! Yeah, I can’t go with you on that one. Though on an interesting side note, y’know who was supposed to be Rorschach for the first draft back in the late 80s? Robin goddamn Williams.

As for Nite-Owl, I would’ve gone with Paul Giamatti.

(Seriously the costumes and the make-up jobs for the man cast of Watchmen look terrible. You can really see their “aging lines”. It was a poor, poor choice to use younger actors for that film.

Hey man, great review! I LOVE the site. Also, from what I gather, both Del Toro and Mignola wanted this movie to be rooted in the folklore issues of Hellboy instead of the Lovecraftian ones. More like the one-shots instead of the miniseries’. Anyway, Rachel and I are probably gonna see it tomorrow. I’m excited. Also, I really wish Del Toro wasn’t directing The Hobbit, so he could instead work on At the Mountains of Madness. Enough waiting already! Jesus Shoggoth Christ!
